Conflict Mineral Statement

In July 2010, the United States President signed into law the “Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act” containing a section that regulates “Conflict Minerals” for the first time. Conflict Minerals are mined in conditions of armed conflict and human rights abuses. On August 22, 2012, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) published regulations implementing Section 1502 of the legislation governing Conflict Minerals. The legislation defines conflict materials as cassiterite, colton, columbite-tantalite (coltan), gold, wolframite, as well as their derivatives and other minerals that the US Secretary of State may designate in the future. This legislation requires publically held companies to disclose annually to the SEC whether products were produced with conflict materials sourced from the Democratic Republic of the Congo or adjoining countries.

Although the Conflict Minerals legislation applies to public companies, we understand that it will have a significant impact on any public or private company that is part of a public companies supply chain.
